It started in 2000, with the acquisition of a Vandercook SP15 proof press and two beautiful cabinets of lead type from the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, MO.
Upon the discovery of an original poem locked in the bed of the press, a black and white photograph and an apron marked S. Lillian Black... a press name was born.

Sister Black (Bike) Press is the mobile printing and publishing studio for Sister Black Press. It is a vintage, clamshell printing press mounted on the back of a cargo bike…used to letterpress print and distribute Poetry “spoke cards” and other messages.
