A CREATIVE SPACE FOR

Letterpress | Book Arts | MIXED MEDIA

Sister Black Press & studio is the mixed-media creative space of Monica Edwards Larson.

It started in 2000, with the acquisition of a Vandercook SP15 proof press and two beautiful cabinets of lead type from the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Clyde, MO. Upon the discovery of an original poem locked in the bed of the press, a black and white photograph and an apron marked S. Lillian Black... a press name was born. For more info on the press, check out this amazing interview by Susan Clark on her blog SheKeeps.com

A few years ago, we moved and expanded to a beautiful, old storefront in the Longfellow neighborhood, which provides room for an etching press! Plus an additional space for mixed-media drawing, painting and project planning. We are excited that Printmaker & Book Artist Leah Klister has joined the studio!
